unable to complete install

Beitrag von plawrie »

I have downloaded amidio-4.0.11 and printed the installation steps.
I have a domain registered with Ionos\1&1 which supports MySQL5.7 - I have been trying to develop my own membership system for a charity I am associated with but, hitting too many tedious problems with PHP syntax, I looked for a package instead.
I Have deleted the database tables I had been playing with, so I have a database with no tables defined.
I unzipped amidio as per the instructions and ftped the folder amidio to the root of my domain, so I have
https://mydomain/amidio/adm_my_files , index.php, etc
I gave adm_my_files 777 access
Then I ran https://mydomain/amidio/index.php
That went through as per the instructions, I entered the database access, the organisation and admin details
It proceeded to .../Install Admidio
On the screen I have
https://..../admidio/adm_program/installation/installation.php?step=create_config
"You have entered all the necessary data for installing Admidio.
Now the database has to be created and filled with your data.

There it will sit for hours with a rotating ring "creating database".

I completely cleared the code from the server directory and ftped it again with the same result.
Then I deleted the unzipped data on my PC and ran the unzip again before ftping to the server with the same result.
I had a look at phpmyadmin on the Ionos server but no tables have been created on the database
Can someone explain how I can get past this problem?

I did scan previous posts but obviously not well enough!
Now I have found

This happened to me, too.
I almost abandoned the software because of it.
Hit the "refresh button on your browser, it worked for me."

Hitting [F5] to refresh solved the problem and I have 34 tables in the database.

I must say, though, this does appear to be a bug! Even a bit of text on the screen or a sentence in the installation wiki would have saved me hours of head-scratching and cursing
